Our Vision
To provide an educational opportunity for children of like-minded Christian families, offering excellence in moral and academic training, through an educational process that blends classroom and at home learning.
Our Mission
Biblical Truth
We believe the precepts of God’s Word set the absolute standard to which we are to train our children. The community of families in our school will share common convictions on Biblical principles that relate to the moral and academic training of their children. Biblical truth will be the foundation of every subject. We desire to avoid legalism by remaining committed to God’s truth, not our own traditions and ideals.
Like-Minded Families
Like mindedness is achieved in the school through the mutual participation of parents in an approved parenting video series -OR- by attendance at seminars, offered by the school. (More detailed description of options is given with application.) Although there are several excellent resources available on the subject of parenting from a Biblical perspective, participating in the same curriculum provides an excellent means of communication. It allows the teachers and the parents to “speak the same language”.
Academic Excellence
We intend to provide an education of value and use to each student which exceeds the requirements of local, state, and federal agencies. Our teachers are professional Christian educators who are qualified to teach their subject and grade level. We believe academic excellence is achievable in our school through an education based on a Biblical worldview and by providing classrooms with fewer students (about 15 students per teacher, and a parent aide). This allows for more personal assessment of each student’s strengths and weaknesses.
Moral Excellence
While it is understood that moral character training is a fundamental responsibility of parents, we believe it is our duty as a school to support and enhance what the parents are doing at home. Students will experience the Biblical concept of “iron sharpening iron” rather than “bad morals corrupting good values.” We anticipate positive peer pressure among the students, with older students modeling spiritual maturity for the younger students.
Teachers as Mentors
We intend our teachers to serve as mentors with exemplary, godly character, demonstrating excellence in their subject area or grade level taught. The Community School will have a distinctive trust relationship between the school teacher and the parents. We as parents will trust that the teachers will continue to hold our children to the same Biblical and moral standard we are teaching at home. The teachers will trust that we will promptly address at home any behavioral concerns that occur in the classroom.
Blending Classroom & At-Home Learning
Parents at the Community School are dedicated to taking the responsibility for the moral and academic training of their children. They are committed to a high level of involvement in their educational instruction, by being co-instructors with the teachers, as well as volunteering their time regularly in the classroom and for other school-related tasks. We seek families who are committed to teaching their children at home with the necessary resources that are provided, and who value the input of trained Christian educators when provided with an academic framework to teach by.
“Other-Oriented”
We believe that an orientation toward loving and serving others is not only a command of scripture (“Love your neighbor as yourself”), but an overflow of salvation (“He who is forgiven much, loves much”). Therefore, the school will further reinforce the preciousness of those outside of self and enhance a sense of unity among the community (“How good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity”). The Community School setting will provide children with opportunities to put others’ needs before their own, living out a manner that reflects Christ in them.
"I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth."
3 John 1:4
